What is a Firewall ?
A firewall is a set of related programs, located at a network gateway server, that protects the resources of a private network from users from other networks. Basically, a firewall, working closely with a router program, filters all network packets to determine whether to forward them toward their destination. A firewall is often installed away from the rest of the network so that no incoming request can get directly at private network resources. There are a number of firewall screening methods. A simple one is to screen requests to make sure they come from acceptable (previously identified) domain names and IP addresses. For mobile users, firewalls allow remote access in to the private network by the use of secure logon procedures and authentication certificates.

Firewall Installation and Support
In order for your selected firewall system to provide you the maximum protection possible, it must be properly configured. The key to an effective firewall security system setup is knowing what security policy you wish to enforce and having up to date data on the configuration of your network. If you need assistance with your initial setup and integration of your Internet security system, you have several options. One option is to contact an Integration 1 consultant. Once this step has been undertaken a qualified security engineer can help you through the firewall installation. A second option is to schedule a four-hour installation time with an Integration 1 technician. If additional time is needed to complete the installation beyond the contracted time, you can elect to purchase hours on a casual basis.
